Thanksgiving Challenge
This Thanksgiving, I challenge you to take a second to reflect on the countless things that most Americans have the privilege of experiencing every day. Starting with a comfortable bed to sleep in, central heating and air, food in your refrigerator and a nice warm shower. A car to drive and a job to provide for your family. With a little bit of awareness around how fortunate we actually are, it is hard to identify just one thing to be especially thankful for on Thanksgiving. But, I will at least give it a shot.
This year, I am especially thankful for the opportunity to be a parent. If you share the same privilege, you have the greatest possible earthly gift right at your finger tips every single day. Of course it is hard spending countless days in the emergency room and catching the preschool stomach flu 4 times per year. But I have learned that the hard stuff in life is the good stuff. Nothing easy brings the slightest bit of fulfillment or joy. And there is no greater joy than the opportunity to love a child unconditionally. To teach and lead by example as they prepare for their own life journey.
My Thanksgiving challenge is for you to reflect on and create awareness around how many things you have to be thankful for compared to rest of the world. And out of that long list, I hope you will find one thing that you can be especially thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
